Some time ago the mass media bring down the news of the death of many children John Travolta died suddenly, is not well known but some sources say Jett Travolta, 16, died from a sudden heart attack. Why would a 16 -year -old child can suffer a heart attack as an adult ? Apparently also reported that when the 2 -year -old John Travolta's son suffered from Kawasaki disease is never. What is Kawasaki Disease ?

What is a Kawasaki ? So far we know about Kawasaki is one brand of motorcycle. Why is that Kawasaki disease is open to question ?

Indeed, not many people know about Kawasaki Disease, so many cases are not Kawasaki Disease or diagnosed late in Indonesia. Incidents in our country estimated 5000 cases per year.

The most feared complication of this disease is coronary artery to the aneurima ( at 20 â € " 40 % case untreated) with consequent thrombosis and stenosis of the coronary arteries which can lead to myocardial infarction ( death of heart cells ) that fatal. But early diagnosis and prompt and proper treatment can prevent and reduce significantly heart complication.


 
What kind of picture of the Kawasaki Disease diagnosis ? 
The things that must be considered include:

    Fever of at least 5 days

    Polymorphous exanthema ( rash picture, various forms on the skin ), often suspected measles or drug allergy

    Conjunctiva red eyes ( without any dirt on the eye as if being the infection )

    Abnormalities of the lips and oral cavity : strawberry tongue, red mouth, red lips and chapped

    Abnormalities in the hands and feet : swelling ( edema ) and flushing ( erythema ), fingertip desquamation ( peeling skin on fingertips subacute phase / healing )

    Cervical lymphadenitis ( swelling of the neck ) diameter > 1.5 cm
 
The doctor will diagnose as a Kawasaki Disease if found symptoms of fever plus 4 of the other 5 criteria. Some diseases that looks similar to the Kawasaki Disease, giving rise to some problems in diagnosing Kawasaki Disease, such as :
 
Kawasaki Disease diagnosed as measles or rubella ( German measles )


   
 Children come with fever and enlarged lymph nodes of the neck side. Presumed parotitis ( mums / mumps ) After the drug may arise reddish rash on the skin and lips are then mistaken for Drug Reactions


    The discovery that many White Blood Cells in Urine ( Lekosituri ) in children with fever and rash, often regarded as a Urinary Tract Infection


    Sometimes when a child with symptoms of fever, rash and severe abdominal pain is often mistaken as Acute Abdomen.
    In young infants with fever and rash accompanied by an increase in cerebrospinal fluid was diagnosed as viral meningitis ( infection of the brain having a virus ).

So, Kawasaki disease should be considered as a differential diagnosis in any child with a fever for several days, a rash and redness in both eyes without the presence of impurities, especially in children under 1 year old and in adolescents, because in both these age groups Kawasaki Disease diagnosis often missed.
